 It's been a few days since I finished this book but just thinking about it, I'm still amazed by the talent of Cinda Williams Chima. She confirms with this third book how crazy this series is and totally addictive. In Stormcaster, Chima begins her story by telling us about Evan, a pirate met furtively in the first book. I admit that I appreciate this writing style because it allows us to learn to know the characters. After Ash and Jenna in Flamecaster, Lyss and Hal in Shadowcaster, it's Evan's turn to become one of the main characters. During the first chapters, we meet the young man and his rather interesting career, already linked to current events. Indeed, Evan is no stranger to the threat that represents Celestine. What I really appreciated is that Evan's story ends up joining the main plot. We find the other characters mentioned above and it's a real pleasure. I admit having my favorite ones like Hal and Lyss, but I was happy to find Ash again. As I said, all the protagonists bring a piece to the big puzzle and everyone has a specific role to play. What's great is that they are all eventually linked in one way or another. And since they are scattered all over the Realms, we also travel a lot. As for the plot, it advances at its own pace, being very detailed according to the many points of view, and we always dread the turnaround that we do not see coming. Even if the action is not predominant, there are so many things going on that you do not get bored for a second. I am admiring the author to offer us a novel of this quality.

Cela fait quelques jours que j'ai terminé cette lecture mais rien que d'y penser, je suis toujours autant époustouflée par le talent de Cinda Williams Chima. Elle confirme avec ce troisième tome combien cette série est dingue et totalement addictive.

Dans cet opus, Chima commence son histoire par nous conter celle d'Evan, un pirate rencontré furtivement dans le tout premier tome. J'avoue que j'apprécie ce mode opératoire car il permet d'apprendre à connaitre les personnages. Après Ash et Jenna dans Flamecaster, Lyss et Hal dans Shadowcaster, c'est au tour de Evan de tenir la vedette et de devenir un des personnages principaux.

Durant les premiers chapitres, on fait la connaissance du jeune homme et de son parcours plutôt intéressant, déjà lié aux événements actuels. En effet, Evan n'est pas étranger à la menace que représente Célestine, de même qu'il connait très bien le soldat Destin Karn... J'avoue que je ne m'attendais pas à ce que ce dernier soit également mis en valeur mais j'ai fortement apprécié la démarche. Jusqu'à présent, je n'aimais pas trop Karn Junior qui me semblait froid et calculateur. Or le jeune homme agit selon un code et se révèle bien plus attachant que prévu. 

Ce que j'ai fortement apprécié c'est que l'histoire de Evan finit par rejoindre l'intrigue principale qui suit son cours. On retrouve alors les autres personnages cités précédement et c'est un vrai bonheur. J'admets avoir mes petits préférés comme Hal et Lyss, mais j'ai été contente de retrouver Ash, grand absent du second tome.  Comme je vous le disais, tous les protagonistes apportent une pièce au grand puzzle et chacun a un rôle bien précis à jouer. Ce qui est génial, c'est qu'ils sont finalement tous liés d'une manière ou d'une autre. Et comme ils sont tous dispersés aux quatre coins des Royaumes, on voyage également beaucoup. 

Quant à l'intrigue, elle avance à son rythme, étant très détaillée selon les nombreux points de vue, et on redoute toujours le retournement de situation qu'on ne voit pas venir. Même si l'action n'est pas prédominante, il y a tellement de choses qui se déroulent qu'on ne s'ennuie pas une seconde. Je suis admirative de l'auteure de nous offrir un roman de cette qualité.

Et pour ne rien gâcher, le style de Chima est aussi magique que son histoire. C'est fluide, agréable et très travaillée, en fonction des personnages qui présentent chacun une personnalité propre. Je dis chapeau!

En bref, j'ai adoré ce troisième tome qui me confirme à quel point cet univers est dingue, complexe et travaillé! Je suis époustouflée par Cinda Williams Chima qui fait preuve d'un grand talent avec cette histoire. Tous les personnages sont intéressants et grâce à chacun, nous avons droit à une vision très large des enjeux. C'est spectaculaire et bien mené, tant tout est relié. J'ai tellement hâte de lire le 4ème et dernier tome!
