WHAT.AN.AMAZING.BOOK!!! The Mirror King was a wonderful read. This will not be simple to put into words my feelings, especially because the book is very complex and also very detailed. With this second and final book, Jodi Meadows gets to the bottom of things. The book is still over 500 pages so I was prepared for a lot of things to happen. The Mirror King is, like The Orphan Queen, cut into parts. This allows a fair and interesting evolution of the story. All parts are dynamic, with their discoveries and a lot of emotions. It would be difficult to talk about the plot, very well put together and very detailed. Jodi Meadows has planned everything and takes time to develop her story. Nevertheless, the situation remains critical for our characters facing the wraith increasingly threatening. It seems that nothing can stop it, except maybe magic. Our heroine Wilhelmina has a lot to face. She's a strong girl, a lovely character I liked so so much. She did inspire respect and courage.  Around her gravitate other characters I simply loved, especially James, an absolute support for Wil and of course Black Knife. Although his identity is revealed, I prefer to say nothing about this if you read this article without having read the first book. If James is loyal and very surprising (he has made me shed a tear), Black Knife is simply magnificent. I liked this character, both in its vigilante mask and his real identity. With Wilhelmina, they form an exceptional duo. Whatever they do, whatever the trials they go through, they always end up together. And together they get to fight the best. We feel a real alchemy that gives me again now chills. I loved how the author developed her story. Of course, at times I thought she chose the easy way, but to others, I simply was speechless. Many times I was surprised by the turn of events. This fantasy world is complex and leads us into an extraordinary adventure. It's about lots of things like politics, survival, power, devotion, friendship, love and the values ​​that we want to fight for. In conclusion, this second book has exceeded my expectations. Right now, I dream that there is a third book because it would be welcome. While the author answered all our questions, I remain convinced that it could go even further in its history. But our imagination will do that and I am more than satisfied. The universe is exciting and I must say that I already miss the characters terribly.

Quel coup de coeur, mais quel coup de coeur! The Mirror King a été une lecture magnifique. J'aurai voulu prendre plus mon temps, mais impossible de ralentir le rythme. Il fallait que je sache. Je n'avais qu'une envie, retrouver les personnages, tous les jours un peu plus. Cela ne va pas être simple de mettre des mots sur mon ressenti, surtout que le livre est très complexe et également très détaillé. 

Avec ce second et dernier tome, Jodi Meadows va au fond des choses. Le livre fait tout de même plus de 500 pages donc on est préparé à ce qu'il se passe pas mal d'événements. The Mirror King est, à l'instar de The Orphan Queen, découpé en plusieurs parties. Cela permet une évolution juste et très intéressante de l'histoire. Toutes les parties sont dynamiques, avec leurs lots de découvertes, et d'émotions. 

Il serait difficile de vous parler de l'intrigue, très bien ficelée et surtout très détaillée. Jodi Meadows a tout prévu et prend son temps pour développer son histoire. La situation reste néanmoins critique pour nos personnages qui font face au Spectre de plus en plus menaçant. Il semblerait que rien ne l'arrête, sauf peut être la magie, bannie il y a de ça 100 ans. Notre héroine Wilhelmina n'en mène pas large. Elle va devoir être sur tous les fronts et garder la tête haute. Je ne sais d'ailleurs pas comment elle a fait pour être aussi courageuse! Mais c'est une badass, prête à se battre et à se sacrifier. Ce qui la rend encore plus attachante et réelle. 

Autour d'elle gravitent d'autres personnages que j'ai tout simplement adorés. Mention spéciale pour James, d'un soutien absolu à Wil et bien évidemment Black Knife. Bien que son identité soit révélée, je préfère ne rien dire sur ce sujet si jamais vous lisez cette chronique sans avoir lu le 1er tome. Si James est loyal et très surprenant (il m'aura fait verser une petite larme), Black Knife est tout simplement grandiose. J'ai aimé ce personnage, tant sous son masque de justicier que sous sa réelle identité. Avec Wilhelmina, ils forment un duo exceptionnel. Quoi qu'ils fassent, qu'importe les épreuves qu'ils traversent, ils finissent toujours ensemble. Et c'est ensemble qu'ils arrivent à combattre le mieux. On sent une réelle alchimie qui me donne, là encore maintenant, de grands frissons.

J'ai adoré comme l'auteure a développé son histoire. Certes, par moments je me suis dit qu'elle avait choisi la solution de facilité, mais à d'autres, je suis tout simplement restée bouche bée. De nombreuses fois j'ai été surprise par la tournure des choses. Cet univers fantasy est complexe et nous entraine dans une aventure extraordinaire. Il est question de plein de choses comme la politique, la survie, le pouvoir, la dévotion, l'amitié, l'amour et les valeurs pour lesquelles on désire se battre. 

En conclusion, ce second tome a dépassé mes attentes. Là tout de suite, je rêve qu'il y ait une suite car elle serait bienvenue. En effet, si l'auteure a répondu à toutes nos questions, je reste persuadée qu'elle aurait pu encore aller plus loin dans son histoire. Mais notre imagination s'en chargera et je suis plus que satisfaite. L'univers est passionnant et je dois dire que les personnages me manquent déjà terriblement.
